Games, Crafts and Life. Lots of cats too.

This just in..watch out if you are traveling up north

My sister sent this to me. I wonder how effective their plan is going to be if radio stations are already telling their listeners about it.

Starting today, New Jersey will launch a 30 day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers’ overtime. There will 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main intersections and highways. They are the following:

> I-295 north and south

> 1-95 (Jersey Turnpike) north and south 1-80 east and west

> I-287 north and south

> I-78 east and west

> 1-195 east and west

> 1-280 east and west

> Rt. 130 north and south

> Garden State Parkway north and south

5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 to 20 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and are bringing in all of their part timers on full time. If you work in NJ, NY, DE or CT you will probably take one of these highways. It’s up to you how fast you are going when they clock you.

101.5 FM confirmed all of this. So be safe and don’t forget speeding tickets are on you.

Driving Ticket fine increase in NJ:

Starting on August 15th, the price of a ticket for violation of NJ Law39:3-29 (failure to show your driver’s license, registration, or insurance card at the time you are stopped) is going from $44.00 to $173.00. Please make sure your vehicles have the proper documents in them. If you jump in the car to run to the store and forget your wallet with your license in it and you are stopped…. Oh well… you just spent $173. And the fine for not having all three documents is $519!!!

Forward to people in NJ, and let them know of this change. And be careful, the fine for hand held cell phone use while driving will be going up to $180.00.

Be wise and careful!!!!!

If anything, this will cause motorist to slow down and travel at safe speeds. The NJT is notorious for speeding because the distance between exits are so great.

Safe and happy travels!!!

Canada Bound

I leave for Toronto tomorrow, and I should be packing right now. Instead, I’ve spent the day solving Weff’s riddles. They start off simple enough, but the difficulty quickly ramps up. I didn’t expect to be so wrapped up in these puzzles. If you try them out and find yourself stuck, feel free to ask me for hints. I’ve solved the first fifty puzzles.

I’m going to Canada to do some training for work. I’ll be there for a week. I plan on posting regularly during the week and gaming from the hotel room. I’ll be there by myself, so if you see me online (IM or LIVE), feel free to say hi and keep my company.

Cross-Country Booty Call

That’s the phrase I used two days into my four-day vacation in San Antonio. If I were a bit sharper, I would have realized that’s what I was getting into before I even got onto the plane, or even before I booked the flight. On the other hand, Nad knew exactly what she was doing. I’m not complaining, mind you. We had a great deal of fun, and I’d do it again without thinking twice.

I’m thinking of anecdotes that I can relate, but most of it is a little too NC-17 for this site, which I try to keep firmly in the PG-13 realm.

Instead, I’ll tell you that Texas is hot. By hot, I mean HOT. Muggy too. It was nasty all the time. We drove a Hyundai Sonata (2006, I think) with the A/C blasting at all times, and we both believe that it is a viable alternative to a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry. It even looks sharp too. Lots of leg room, and enough pep to speed past the slow pokes on I35 (or any other road you happen to be on).

We saw Superman Returns. If you liked Superman I and II, or just like comic book movies in general, do yourself a favor and watch this movie. We watched it in an interesting theater where they served you dinner 15 minutes before the movie started. Stuff like pizza and burgers. There were bar-style stands in front of all the seats where you could keep your dinner and drinks. In the third act of the movie, the waiters would return to deliver the check. It was an interesting experience. My only complaint was that the seats did not recline.

I’ve got more to talk about. I’ll post again a bit later.
