12 Dec
It is now well into December and I am now getting around to updating the site. I can say it has been very busy these last couple of months. Since the beginning of this summer, Will and I have been traveling. We’ve been to Upstate NY, Florida and I even made it to Vermont. As of right now, we are starting 2005 with a trip to Missouri in January to see his brother Carlos get married. Definitely a great way to start the year.
Right now, I am working on Christmas cards and lists. I am a little behind as you can tell. I am almost finished with my list and I must say Amazon.com is a wonderful place to shop!
As for my cards, I hope to be done with them real soon! They will be posted to the site as soon as they are done.
Can I also tell you guys how much I love cartoons from the 80’s? We have all the seasons of Transformers and I am now working on Jem and the Holograms. For those of you that don’t know what Jem is about, think Josie and the Pussycats with an 80’s twist! My sister and I started watching them a couple of months ago. Prior to us watching the DVD’s, we didn’t remember one song other than the theme. As we were watching the episodes, the songs would come on and like a repressed memory, we knew all the words to the song!! Our favorites had to be ‘Click-Clash’, ‘Universal Appeal’ and ‘She Makes an Impression’. Since my sister moved, we haven’t been able to watch the episodes together, so I purchased the next season and watched them while I scrapbooked. I had so much fun singing along with the songs from Season 3! I found a website with their songs here. When I get more money, I hope to start GI Joe and I can’t wait for Voltron, Rainbow Brite and She-Ra!!! For cartoons that came out this decade, Will and I are hooked on Aqua Teen Hunger Force. They are on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. If you haven’t seen an episode, you should! They are hilarious! They are up to volume 3 on DVD.
We didn’t even get into video games…yes we got 2 copies of Halo 2 (mine compliments of one E. Jacobsen aka Suffocation that he preordered back in 2003…) and we had a LAN party to usher it in. We had 16 people experiencing the double weapon wielding, pistol whipping, energy sword slicing, ghost jacking goodness in all its glory! And the team chat is awesome!!! We plan to have another party in January.
Will has been playing Burnout 3, Sudeki and for a bit of ‘nostalgia’ Paper Mario. I have been playing Dead or Alive Ultimate and now 2 Gamecube RPG’s - Tales of Symphonia and Baten Kaitos (thank you Namco!!) and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance on my DS. Did you think Will and I would let the likes of a new Nintendo handheld escape our radar?!?! We got it opening day from an unlikely source - Target (I bet you were thinking EB Games or Gamestop…not this time…as a matter of fact, I think we got the GBA and GBA SP from them as well…).
Let’s go into the fiasco known as Wal-Mart: Will calls the day before and asks if the DS has been shipped there. The person on the phone says yes. They opened at 0700 and Will and I were there at 0655…we stood at the electronics counter for 40 minutes before someone came to help us. The only reason why we got help was because I complained to the manager (note to Wal-Mart shoppers - those people in the red vests by the cashiers know nothing and they know less during the 7 o’clock hour…). When I asked the woman in the red vest about the availability of the DS, without looking at anything, she said (with an attitude) they were not there. By this time I was hot because not only had we been standing there for 35 minutes with no help, she was the 3rd person I had asked about getting assistance in the electronics department. I finally asked for a manager. The manager was the only source of intelligence in this store. This young man apologized, looked in boxes and even called the next Wal-Mart to find this for us. The Wal-Mart closer to our house had just sold out. We left Wal-Mart without a DS (and if I ever see that chick in the red vest again, I will definitely have some words for her…). By this time, it was 0800. Disappointed, Will suggested that we just go home.
I decided to try my luck at Target. There were no less than 6 employees handing out DS’s and escorting customers to the register with their newfound toy. At first, I wasn’t going to purchase one, but the ‘red card o’death’ said “come to the dark side…swipe me…”. I left with a DS and the Urbz…Will got Super Mario 64. We told the guy who assisted us about the wonderful work they did at Wal-Mart and informed him that Target has won our faith again (Wal-Mart will be lucky if they ever get a dime out of us again…).
