I know many people who wake up in the morning, then go straight to their computer and jump onto IM and check their e-mail. They also watch TV to catch the news, eat breakfast, and can spend up to an hour doing this before taking a shower and getting dressed.
I don’t understand that at all. When I get up in the morning, my list of tasks are:
Nadia’s schedule is very much the same, but in a different order. She might have an extra step or two. We almost never eat breakfast; when we do, that’s when the TV comes on to watch the news for ten minutes or less. I’m not even thinking of turning on the PC. When we get up, our goal is to get out of the house in fourty minutes or less.
This isn’t directly related to the length of our commute. When we lived seven miles from Nad’s job, she generally had the same routine and timeframe (correct me if I’m wrong Nad). When we lived fifteen minutes from my job, I follwed the same routine and timeframe.
If you are one of these people that basically hangs around the house before leaving for work, how do you do it?

Simple. I have no goals in the morning, other than: don’t be so late that I get fired.
Plus I have little energy in the morning, and sedentary activities like xbox, www or TV are a good segue from fully asleep to fully awake.
I think that the joes of the world think alike. I wake up within the same 530 to 600 o’clock time range every day. Of course, give or take the event of daylight savings lol. I get out of bed depending on when I absolutely need to be somewhere. If my first contract is 800, my lazy butt is out of bed about 700′ish. Remember I need to BE there by 800 lol. I think you and Nad just have a deeper sense of urgency than most. I envy you both for it when I am cursing traffic or the ilplaced pedestrian.
Anywho, that is my random thought. Oh yeah, on another note. I got a Mac computer! May the web-world envy me! Lol. Ttyl
Also, why don’t you take a crap? Eat more fiber man.
Some people like to crap at night. There is something about laying in bed with a pile of crap in your belly that seems to be a turn off to the significant other
lol
No time for poo in the morning!
Seriously, I can’t imagine being more laid back in the morning. It kills me that it takes long to drag my ass out of bed as it is. I can’t bring myself to just sit down and eat breakfast, but you are playing video games in the morning?
Which Mac?
Will,
Interesting post here. But you’re right, in the morning there’s no way to do anything else but get out the door. Its a 45min trip for me by car, and 1 hour trip for Jo by train. Its a hassle when it comes to that but the general rule of thumb is a basic or common cut-off time.
We set a time that we get up and cut-off time to get out the door. Its fun what one does in between.
I get up at 5:30 in the morning and am out the door for PT at 5:40. I’ve got it down to a science. Of course when i get home from PT, it’s a totally different story. I’m usually anywhere from 15 to 55 minutes late for work every day. I’m glad I can’t get fired.
